The following document Kuwait's oil wells destroyed , clearly
describes the levels of permanent damage caused to Kuwait's Burgan Field during the exiting of Iraqi forces from Kuwait in 1991. This very brief but significant report provides a plausible explanation for the
early peaking of the Burgan Field, which was considered by many to be eight to ten years ahead of schedule. As of late September 2005, the Burgan field, being the second largest oil field on the planet, was no
longer capable of supporting Saudi Arabia's Ghawar oil field, in providing the necessary spare oil production capacity to sustain demand or the expected percentages of global economic growth.
