Hershey's 5th Avenue

This bar was purchased as a snack, for eating whilst watching a late night movie. The problem with chocolate bars as movie snacks is that they only last for five minutes at the most, and that is if I am being restrained. I would like to be able to take one bite, then set the chocolate bar down on the beside table and forget about it as I watched, but I don't have the control. I like to eat a lot of chocolate over a short period of time, so my mouth is infused with the taste.
The 5th Avenue is one of those teeth-packing bars. Underneath the milk chocolate coating is a kind of peanut buttery wafer, which was magnificently brittle. it was so brittle in fact, that I decided that American candy is far superior texture wise than Australian candy. However, after a few bites, the wafer began to pack into my molars in a hard, toffee-like mass. I find foods which I spend longer picking out of my teeth than eating somewhat annoying. Potato chips are usually the main culprit in this regard. With sugary things, I become paranoid that having such a high concentration of sugar so close to my teeth is immediately decaying them, so eating the 5th Avenue , whilst it was delicious, made me think too much about future fillings.
The particular peanut butter used in American candy reminds me of comic books. Whilst eating it, every now and again I feel a salty zing, which is strange but not unpleasant and reminds me of the Zap! and Pow! of cartoon punches. The highlight of this bar was definately the texture, as the taste was familiar from other peanut butter and chocolate combination bars, the strangeness of salty/sweet.
Hershey's would have to be the only chocolate company that has a town named after it. The town of Hershey, Pennsylvania has streetlights the shape of Hershey's Kisses, and features a chocolate themed amusement park, a zoo, and many other attractions. Milton Hershey founded the town, with dreams of making a model town for the workers in his chocolate factory. He founded an orphanage for unfortunates with the profits from his chocolates. “The Chocolate Orphans” - a bad kid's book waiting to happen.
