Remarks
At the end of the Charles Darwin Walk (which follows the steps taken by Charles Darwin in 1836) at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains is the Weeping Rock Circuit track. This image is of the largest waterfall on the track. Approximately 100m away from this location, Jamison Creek plunges over the edge of the escarpment as the Wentworth Falls.
I had recently purchased another Linhof Technika (a model V this time) and wanted to give it a try-out to check it was working properly. Into the car, drive up to the Blue Mountains, and off to one of my favourite spots: Weeping Rock. Trouble is, it was gently raining by the time I arrived.
Given the low contrast in the scene (on account of the rain), the negative was given N+1 development to lift the value of the water and separate it from the rest of the image. Then the print was subject to a fairly radical interpretation. Extensive burning-in has taken place to lower the values of the surrounding areas to black and further highlight the water flowing over the edge of the rock.
